Introduction: Punjab Kings Women’s IPL Team
If you are searching for the Punjab Kings Women’s IPL Team, it is important to understand the difference between Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and the teams currently participating in the Women’s Premier League. Punjab Kings are an established men’s IPL franchise, but there is currently no Punjab Kings women’s team competing in the WPL.
The Women’s Premier League is India’s major women’s T20 franchise competition. As of the 2026 season and the announced 2027 season, the league consists of 5 franchises: Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriors. Punjab Kings is not among them.
Punjab Kings Women’s IPL Team: Current Status
The keyword punjab kings women’s ipl team is commonly used by cricket fans looking for information about a possible women’s franchise connected with Punjab Kings. However, there is currently no official Punjab Kings women’s franchise in the WPL. The official WPL information confirms that the competition’s 5 franchises are Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriors. The same 5-team structure continues into the 2027 season.
This means that players representing Punjab or players associated with Punjab cricket may appear in women’s domestic cricket or other professional competitions, but that does not mean they are members of a Punjab Kings women’s IPL team.

No. Punjab Kings do not currently have a WPL franchise. The WPL was launched with 5 franchises, and the official 2026 playing-squad document lists only 5 teams. Punjab Kings is not included in that list.

Punjab Kings and the IPL
Punjab Kings are one of the established franchises in the men’s Indian Premier League. The franchise was formerly known as Kings XI Punjab before being renamed Punjab Kings. The men’s team has featured many well-known international and Indian cricketers over the years. In the 2026 IPL setup, the official IPL website lists players such as Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera and Harpreet Brar in the Punjab Kings squad. The men’s Punjab Kings franchise should therefore not be confused with a women’s WPL franchise.
Why People Search for Punjab Kings Women’s IPL Team
There are several reasons cricket fans may search for this term. First, the popularity of women’s franchise cricket has increased significantly since the launch of the WPL. Fans naturally want to know whether their favourite IPL franchises also have women’s teams. Second, Punjab has a strong cricket culture and has produced many talented women cricketers. This can lead fans to search for a Punjab-based women’s franchise.
Third, Punjab Kings is a well-known IPL brand, so people may assume that every major IPL franchise has a corresponding women’s team. However, the current WPL structure does not include Punjab Kings.
Current WPL Teams
The 5 WPL franchises competing in the current structure are:
| Team | Short Name | City/Brand Association |
| Delhi Capitals | DC | Delhi |
| Gujarat Giants | GG | Gujarat |
| Mumbai Indians | MI | Mumbai |
| Royal Challengers Bengaluru | RCB | Bengaluru |
| UP Warriorz | UPW | Uttar Pradesh |
The official WPL 2026 playing-squad document confirms these 5 teams. The official 2027 retention announcement also confirms the same 5-franchise structure.
Punjab Kings Women’s IPL Team Players
Since Punjab Kings do not currently have a WPL franchise, there is no official Punjab Kings women’s IPL team squad. A woman cricketer from Punjab, or a player who has represented Punjab in domestic cricket, is not automatically a Punjab Kings WPL player. For accurate squad information, it is better to check official WPL announcements and BCCI sources.
Punjab Women’s Cricket and Domestic Opportunities
Although there is no Punjab Kings women’s WPL franchise, women’s cricket in Punjab continues through domestic cricket structures. The BCCI organizes women’s domestic competitions and provides pathways for players to progress from state-level cricket to India A and the senior Indian women’s team.
For example, BCCI announced India A women’s fixtures in 2026 that included matches in New Chandigarh and at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. This demonstrates the role of Punjab venues in women’s cricket even though Punjab Kings do not currently operate a WPL team. This distinction is useful for anyone researching the punjab kings women’s ipl team keyword.
WPL 2026 Season Overview

The WPL has continued with 5 franchises for its 2027 season, and the BCCI has announced the 2027 season dates and auction plans. If the league expands in the future, new franchises could potentially be considered, but there is no confirmed information that Punjab Kings will receive a women’s franchise. Any future announcement should be verified through the BCCI or official WPL channels.
Punjab Kings Women’s IPL Team vs Punjab Women’s Cricket
These terms can refer to different things. Punjab Kings women’s IPL would mean a women’s franchise operated under the Punjab Kings brand and participating in the WPL.
Punjab women’s cricket team refers to women’s cricket representing the Punjab state in domestic competitions. These are not the same entity. A player can represent Punjab in domestic cricket without playing for a Punjab Kings women’s franchise.
Why the WPL Is Important for Women’s Cricket
The Women’s Premier League has created a major professional platform for women’s T20 cricket in India. It brings together Indian domestic players and international stars and gives young cricketers opportunities to play alongside experienced professionals. The official WPL website describes the competition as a major platform for leading players from India and around the world. The league’s 2027 season will be its 5th edition.
For aspiring women cricketers from Punjab, the domestic pathway remains important because strong performances can lead to higher-level opportunities, including India A and senior-level selection.
